Shaping Mapbox integration

We were tasked with understanding Mapbox’s capabilities and limitations so we could shape the requirements for Verizon Family’s location-based features. Our goal was to determine what would be most effective to design and implement.

Turning research into clear direction

I guided the team in consolidating our findings into a structured reference. We evaluated how best to represent people, locations, and travel states within the map and documented recommendations that balanced technical feasibility with user clarity. The resulting presentation served as a foundation for implementation.

Defining the experience

Our team mapped out potential user scenarios and visual states to ensure the map experience was both intuitive and adaptable. We explored avatar behaviors, background styles, and the hierarchy of on-screen elements, prioritizing clarity for users in a range of situations.

From concepts to implementation

We created detailed guidelines for developers and stakeholders. This included finalized icon sets, color specifications for various states, updated map markers, and reference animations for transitions and interactions. Our work ensured consistency across teams and set the standard for all map-based experiences within Verizon Family.
